The New Mexico State University Alamogordo Presidential Search Committee has extended invitations to three candidates for campus interviews and plans a community reception for each candidate to give Otero County residents and others an opportunity to interact with the finalists.
Selected as finalists were Steve Rook, vice president for academic and student affairs at Rich Mountain Community College, Mena, Arkansas; Lydia Tena, Northwest Campus dean and dean of instructional programs at El Paso Community College; and D. Ryan Carstens, vice president for academic affairs at NMSU Alamogordo.
“We were able to attract an excellent pool of candidates in this search and are looking forward to the campus interviews and community receptions,” said NMSU Associate Vice President and Deputy Provost Greg Fant, who is chairing the search committee. “We are committed to selecting the best candidate to lead NMSU Alamogordo to the next level.”
Rook will interview on Friday, April 24. The community reception for Rook will be from 5:30-7 p.m. that day at the First National Bank Atrium in Alamogordo.
His educational background consists of receiving his doctorate of education in higher education administration from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock; his master of science in education in guidance and counseling/student personnel from Eastern Illinois University; and his bachelor of science in marketing from the University of Arkansas at Monticello.
Tena will interview on Monday, April 27. The community reception for Tena will be from 5:30-7 p.m. that day at the First National Bank Atrium in Alamogordo.
Her educational background consists of receiving her doctor of education in educational management and development in higher education administration from NMSU; her master’s in business administration with a concentration in management from the University of Texas at El Paso; and her bachelor’s in business administration from UTEP.
Carstens will interview on Friday, May 1. The community reception for Carstens will be from 5:30-7 p.m. that day at the First National Bank Atrium in Alamogordo.
His educational background consists of receiving his doctorate of education in the Community College Leadership Program, educational administration from the University of Texas at Austin; his master’s in curriculum and instruction from Oklahoma State University, and his bachelor’s in German with a minor in social studies from OSU.
