EL PASO – The El Paso Chihuahuas announced their 2017 home schedule on Tuesday. First pitch is slated for April 6th versus the Las Vegas 51s (New York Mets) at Southwest University Park. The home season includes 71 home games of a 142-game schedule that will run through August 31st.
“Our staff has already begun the creative, promotion building to prepare for our fourth season,” said Chihuahuas General Manager Brad Taylor. “We have a favorable home slate and look forward to hosting 34 Friday through Sunday weekend games in 2017.”
The Chihuahuas open their fourth season at Southwest University Park with 13 home games in April, including a four-game series versus Las Vegas and an eight-game slate versus Tacoma and Reno (April 18-25). May is the lightest of the season, with 12 home games including an eight-game homestand against the American Northern Division’s Colorado Springs (Milwaukee Brewers) and Oklahoma City (Los Angeles Dodgers).
The team will play an eight-game set leading up to the Fourth of July (June 26-July 3). The Chihuahuas will take a break from play, July 11-13, for the Triple-A All-Star Game before returning home to play Omaha (Kansas City Royals) and Iowa (Chicago Cubs) July 21st through the July 28th.
The Chihuahuas will face Albuquerque, Fresno, Las Vegas, Reno, Sacramento, Salt Lake and Tacoma twice as members of the Pacific Coast League (PCL) Pacific Conference.
The Chihuahuas are in first-place in the Pacific Coast League’s Pacific Southern Division, 8.0 games ahead of the Las Vegas 51s (New York Mets). Albuquerque and Salt Lake have joined Las Vegas in chasing down the Chihuahuas as all three are separated by a half a game.
With the Chihuahuas eight-game lead on Las Vegas, post-season playoff tickets and strips are on sale now! Each strip includes one (1) seat for each potential playoff home game of each potential playoff round. Strips may be purchased either in-person or over the phone. Fans who purchase a playoff ticket strip will enjoy a cost savings over those buying individual game tickets. Playoff strips are not available online. For any games not played, the value may be applied towards any 2017 Season Seat package. Tickets for games that are not played are refundable.
The Chihuahuas have 12 home games remaining in 2016 including a four-game series with Salt Lake (August 20-23) that could see a possible appearance by Tim Lincecum, two-time Cy Young Award winner, on Saturday, August 20th. The Chihuahuas will close out their regular season campaign in an eight-game homestand August 29-September 5 with the announced addition of Star Wars Night on August 30th and a Fireworks Spectacular on September 4th. Fans are encouraged to buy now as seats are limited and are going fast!
The Chihuahuas are taking deposits for 2017 Season Seat, groups and hospitality areas. For more information call (915) 533-BASE or visit EPChihuahuas.com. Individual game ticket sales, game times and promotions will be announced at a later date.
