A flash flood watch has been issued Sunday for central and western New Mexico as storms are forecast to move across the state two days after Albuquerque saw record rainfall that caused flooding and downed trees and utility lines.
The National Weather Service in Albuquerque says the storms forecast for Sunday are much less severe than the heavy rain and strong winds that swept through the city on Friday.
Sunday's flash flood watch is in effect until 10 p.m. Sunday.
The water that created havoc on Albuquerque's streets on Friday has since receded.
City spokesman Dayna Gardner says crews on Sunday were continuing to pick up downed trees and other debris.
PNM has reported that 6,200 customers remained without power as of Saturday night.
