Flu Shot Clinics Continue

New Mexico Department of Health

New Mexico health officials are hosting a series of flu shot clinics around the state.

The state Department of Health says free walk-in immunization clinics are now being offered in Portales, Hobbs, Lovington and Roswell. Clinics also have been held in other cities.

Health officials say everyone six months of age and older should get vaccinated each flu season, especially people who are in high risk categories or those who care for such patients.

Flu shots are especially recommended for pregnant women, people 50 and older and those who have certain chronic medical conditions such asthma, diabetes, lung or heart disease.

Flu season can last as late as May. The highly transmittable disease can cause fever, muscle pain, headaches, fatigue, nausea, sore throats, runny noses and more.
