Silver City – A former Cobre High School janitor has pleaded guilty to criminal sexual penetration of a minor.
Prosecutors say 54-year-old Ricardo "Rick" Garcia has entered a plea agreement that requires him to serve 18 months of supervised probation, avoid contact with minors except with parental permission and register with the state as a sex offender for 10 years.
Under the plea agreement approved by state District Judge J.C. Robinson, a second count of criminal sexual penetration of a minor and one count of criminal sexual contact of a minor were dropped.
According to an affidavit, a 17-year-old female student at the school told Bayard police Garcia molested her three times between January and March 2010.
