ASNMSU President and State Legislature Holding Forum for NMSU Community Regarding Governor's Veto of Higher Education

Event: Forum for students, faculty, staff, and community regarding Governor's Veto of Higher Education in NM

Time: Wednesday, April 26th at 5:30

Place: NMSU Corbett Center Auditorium

ASNMSU President Matt Bose, State Representative Bill McCamley, and possibly other State Legislators representing the NMSU community will be hosting a forum for students, faculty, staff, and community members regarding the Governor's Veto of higher education and the current legislative process for resolving it. After short statements, officials will be available to answer questions and hear the concerns of community members about the Governor's decision and the process for resolving it.

"Some students who haven't registered for the Fall say the reason is uncertainty over the state's funding," McCamley said. "I've also heard concern from many community members about what shutting off state funding means for their jobs, businesses, and community life. As public officials, we need to do everything possible to let our community know what is going on and hear their concerns."

"I'm glad to see our local legislators coming together to address our student body and the concerns we've had the past couple of weeks", Bose said. "While I know that a solution will be come to eventually, many of our students have no idea how the state budget works and are scared about the future of the institution."

The forum will take place Wednesday April 26th, 5:30pm at the NMSU Corbett Center Auditorium.
