Free Yard Signs Available to Thank Law Enforcement In Las Cruces

Area residents can show their support for law enforcement by placing free yard signs on their properties that read “I SUPPORT LAW ENFORCEMENT” with artwork of the American flag.

Mayor Ken Miyagishima proposed the project at a City Council meeting that followed the fatal shooting of a Hatch, NM police officer on Aug. 12 and an Alamogordo, NM police officer on Sept. 2. Both officers were killed while on duty.

“The signs are for all members of law enforcement,” Miyagishima said. “It is a way for us to thank and support our women and men who work to ensure our safety every minute of every day. Theirs is a difficult, dangerous job and we need to stand behind them as entire communities to let them know we have their backs.”

The 18 x 24 inch, two-sided signs are available at no charge in the lobby of the Las Cruces Police Department, 217 E. Picacho Ave., and at the information booth in the lobby of City Hall, 700 N. Main St.

Regular hours for both locations are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday thruFriday.

The limit is one sign per property.
