Great American Cleanup Saturday In Las Cruces

In addition to the 23rd annual Great American Cleanup that will be held Saturday, local organizers will place six solid waste containers around town for the weekend to make it easier for residents to dump large amounts of trash and unwanted debris that may not fit in their residential garbage receptacles.

Trash and yard debris can be dumped into the containers Friday through Sunday. The containers will be placed at:

  • Elks Club at 3000 Elks Dr.
  • Benavidez Center at 1045 McClure Rd.
  • Loma Heights Elementary School at 1600 E. Madrid Ave.
  • Near Campo Street and Hadley Avenue.
  • Near Thurmond Road and Sonoma Ranch Boulevard.
  • Near Don Roser Drive and Missouri Avenue.

The Great American Cleanup is scheduled for 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 11, throughout Las Cruces. Several hundred volunteers have either chosen a specific area to clean or will be designated a location on Saturday. Following the morning-long cleanup, volunteers will be treated to a free lunch at the Walmart Supercenter on Walton Boulevard.

The Great American Cleanup is a program of Keep America Beautiful held in coordination with New Mexico Clean and Beautiful and Keep American Beautiful. The event is organized locally by Keep Las Cruces Beautiful, a program of the Las Cruces Police Department’s Codes Enforcement Division.
