Green Jobs Push

Las Cruces – A Las Cruces City Councilman will work with a group trying to bring new jobs to the state.

Fourth District councilman Nathan Small has been appointed to the steering committee for the Green Jobs Partnership in New Mexico.

Small was appointed during a Green Workforce Summit in Santa Fe .held in conjunction with the announcement of the Green Jobs Cabinet by Governor Richardson.

Initial goals of the Green Jobs Partnership are to secure funding for New Mexico from President Obama's stimulus package.

Currently, the package includes more than $50 billion dollars for energy efficiency and $500 million for green jobs training programs.

Opportunities for the state include manufacturing of renewable energy systems, biofuel production, sustainable agriculture, and green building.
