A fugitive accused of pulling a gun on a U.S. marshal in Albuquerque has a history of arrests.
The U.S. Marshals Service in Albuquerque is searching for Rufus Phelps a day after he allegedly threatened a marshal who was serving a bench warrant.
James Badway, a spokesman for the Marshals Service, says law enforcement found his car Saturday morning.
A grand jury indicted Phelps in September 2013 on several drug-related charges, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and aggravated assault against a household member.
Badway says a federal warrant for assault on a federal officer is now being processed.
Authorities say Phelps, who has gang ties, is dangerous.
They say he also has a criminal history dating back to 2008 that includes more than a dozen charges.
