A knife-wielding man suspected of crashing a party at his ex-wife’s residence was arrested and charged with three felony offenses.
Andres Leon, 25, of the 100 block of Cinnabar Lane, is charged with one count each of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and aggravated assault against a household member.
Shortly after 3 a.m. on Saturday, July 6, Las Cruces Police were called to an apartment at 3500 Foothills Road. Police learned that Leon’s 22-year-old ex-wife was hosting a party when Leon entered, brandished a knife and threatened the occupants of the apartment.
Detectives learned that one of the party-goers attempted to disarm Leon but was cut on his right hand during the process. The victim went to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Leon was arrested at the scene and booked into the Dona Ana County Detention Center with bond set at $20,000.
