Las Cruces – The New Mexico Department of Veterans' Services plans a conference for female veterans and active-duty personnel late this month in Las Cruces.
Two featured speakers will talk about the latest federal developments and services available to female veterans.
Other speakers will outline benefits and services available to women veterans in New Mexico.
The conference is set for Sept. 25 at the Hotel Encanto. The cost is $25 per person.
More than 16,000 of New Mexico's 180,000 veterans are women.
The VA says the number of women using VA facilities nationwide is expected to double within five years.
The VA also says 1.8 million of the 23.4 million veterans nationwide are women and 15 percent of the active-duty force is female.
