Las Cruces – City officials are ready to consider awarding a contract for design and construction of the new Las Cruces Museum of Nature and Science.
The City Council is scheduled to vote on the contract with ASA Architects of Las Cruces during Monday's meeting. The contract is worth more than $400,000.
City officials have said relocating the science museum from its current location at a local shopping mall would be a major plus. The move would significantly increase the museum's size and put it in close proximity to other cultural facilities.
The new museum would be located in a former bank building. The city's plans call for physically linking the building with the city's art museum, which is just to the north.
