A single-vehicle crash on Valley Drive, just south of Boutz Road, resulted in the driver being transported to Memorial Medical Center Friday morning.
The 69-year-old driver was unconscious when police arrived at the scene. He was transported to MMC where he was listed in stable condition.
Las Cruces police were dispatched to the crash shortly after 9:30 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 26. Officers learned that a red Chevrolet Blazer was heading south on Valley Drive. The vehicle left the roadway and crashed into a chain link fence just south of the intersection with Boutz Road.
It appears the driver may have suffered some type of medical incident which resulted in the crash. A passerby noticed the crashed vehicle and attempted to assist the driver prior to the arrival of police and fire personnel.
No other vehicles were involved in the crash and no significant property damage was reported. The crash forced the closure of a portion of south Valley Drive for a couple hours on Friday morning.
