Las Cruces Crime Victims' Expo And Memorial Walk Planned

The Las Cruces Police Department’s Victims’ Assistance Unit is sponsoring the 2012 Crime Victims’ Expo and Memorial Walk on April 21.

The Crime Victims’ Memorial Expo and Memorial Walk, in recognition of national Crime Victims Month, will run from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, April 21, at KleinPark, 155 N. Mesquite St., near downtown Las Cruces. The Expo will feature a festive environment of food, entertainment and exhibitors who will provide service information, and free giveaways and activities for children.

A memorial walk in honor of all victims of crimes will begin at approximately 9:30 a.m. at Klein Park and will circle the Las Cruces Downtown Mall before returning to the park.

The Crime Victims’ Memorial Expo and Memorial Walk is free and open to anyone who wishes to participate. Victims and survivors of crimes are encouraged to participate.

LCPD’s Victims’ Assistance Unit was the first such police-based program in New Mexico when it was created in 1993. The unit provides victims of crimes with crisis intervention and helps guide them through the criminal justice system. For information on the Victims’ Assistance Unit call (575) 528-4111.
