The Thomas Branigan Memorial Library, 200 E. Picacho Ave., has announced the creation of a new Research Center. The Center is an expanded collection of books, online databases and computers to help people find small business resources, update core job skills, discover family history and find grant information.
Databases for job searching and training include Learning Express, which has job skills training, practice tests and software tutorials, as well as Brainfuse Job Now, which has resume help, live interview coaching and job searching. The library also provides access to the Small Business Resource Center database for those who currently run a small business or those who are hoping to start one.
Also available is the Foundation Center Collection, which includes both books and access to the Foundation Center database, where patrons can find information on grants and fundraising for non-profits, grant writing help and training that focuses on non-profit management, networking and effective strategies for leadership and career development.
In addition, patrons can access genealogical resources such as Ancestry, Family Search, Heritage Quest and Digital Sanborn Maps to search for family history online.
Limited free printing is available for some resources. The Research Center is part of the library's reference services and is separate from the public computer lab. It is located next to the reference desk, where staff will be available to help guide researchers and job seekers.
