Las Cruces Man Faces Child Porn Charges

Police arrested a Las Cruces man suspected of possessing and distributing child pornography.

Eric Pyle, 26, of the 100 block of west Willoughby Avenue, is charged with two counts of sexual exploitation of a child. One of the counts is for distribution of child pornography while the other is for possession of child pornography.

On Oct. 25, 2014, an investigator from the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, part of the New Mexico Attorney General’s Office, learned that someone at Pyle’s home was using a computer to access peer-to-peer networks and download pornography depicting children.

Las Cruces Police detectives obtained a search warrant on the home and discovered that Pyle is the primary user of the computer in question and that his user account is password protected.

A computer forensics expert learned that the computer had at least eight pornographic images of children.

Detectives interviewed Pyle who elaborated on how he finds child pornography on the Internet and the steps he took to hide the material.

Pyle was arrested Thursday, Dec. 18, and booked into the Dona Ana County Detention Center where he is being held without bond.

Anyone with information pertaining to this case, child pornography or any previously unreported cases of criminal sexual contact with a child is asked to call Las Cruces Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or send a tip via text message to CRIMES (274637), keyword LCTIPS.
