Las Cruces – A Las Cruces man has been sentenced to 6-and-a-half years in federal prison for possession of child pornography.
U.S. Attorney Kenneth Gonzales says 52-year-old William Ege pleaded guilty to the charge in June 2010.
Ege will be on supervised release for life once he is out of prison, and also must register as a sex offender.
He has been in custody since his arrest in November 2009.
Gonzales says Ege admitted in a plea agreement to possessing more than 600 sexually explicit images of children as young as 4 years old.
Authorities say he downloaded the images from the Internet and viewed them on his computer.
