A New Mexico prison inmate who pleaded guilty to killing his wife and three step-children in 1979 in Las Cruces has been denied parole.
The Las Cruces Sun News reports that Clifton Skidgel's parole request was denied during an Oct. 28 hearing in Santa Fe.
The New Mexico Supreme Court ruled May 13 that Skidgel was eligible to have a parole hearing after he served 10 years of his second sentence of life imprisonment.
A judge in 1985 had agreed with prison officials and concluded that Skidgel would be required to serve at least 60 years — a minimum of 30 years for each of the two consecutive life sentences.
