Las Cruces Mayor To Be Honored At White House

By KRWG News

Las Cruces – Las Cruces Mayor Ken Miyagishima will be honored at the White House on Friday, September 16 for his work strengthening the local economy and creating jobs along the SW border.

The White House Champions of Change initiative says it profiles Americans from all walks of life who are helping the country rise to the challenges of the 21st century.

The White House says Mayor Miyagishima is being recognized for his work with his counterparts from the US-Mexico Border Mayors' Alliance to promote cross-border trade and economic development in the Southwest. They say he has also supported the efforts of the Las Cruces Hispano Chamber of Commerce and other business leaders to foster a vibrant local economy and the creation of jobs in the area.

Mayor Miyagishima will meet with White House officials to discuss his work and identify ways the federal government might be able to help him expand his efforts.
