Police arrested a Las Cruces woman suspected of abusing her 7-year-old daughter Tuesday morning.
Ginger Anita Adame, 24, of the 1000 block of west Amador Avenue, is charged with one count of child abuse. The charge is a third-degree felony.
Las Cruces Police investigators learned that Adame grabbed her 7-year-old daughter’s hair and shoved her into a bathtub Tuesday morning. Investigators also learned that Adame pushed her daughter’s head into the bathtub water, and slapped the girl’s hands and cheeks hard enough to leave bruising.
Adame’s 7- and 2-year-old daughters have been turned over to the temporary custody of the state’s Children, Youth and Families Department.
Adame was arrested Tuesday afternoon and booked into the Dona Ana County Detention Center where she is initially being held without bond.
