Las Cruces Museum of Nature and Science on Top Ten List of Best Educational Activities for Children

The Las Cruces Museum of Nature and Science (MONAS) was recently named one of the top ten sites for Best Educational Activities for Children in New Mexico by American Towns Media. Criteria for ranking included places that provide children fun opportunities to learn with a focus on inspiring curiosity, imaginative play, and critical thinking.

“We’re very excited about this distinction,” said Rebecca Slaughter, Las Cruces Museum System Administrator. “We strive to make the museum one of the best in southern New Mexico and we’re very proud to be included in the Top 10 in the state.” Noted activities distinguishing MONAS are hands-on exhibits on science and natural history with displays featuring live animals and plants from the Chihuahuan Desert, fossil displays with history, and the orb projector creating an interactive stellar experience. Admission is always free.

The museum is located at 411 N. Main St. and is open from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday. The museum is closed Sunday and Monday.
