Las Cruces Offers Reward For Information About School Vandalism

By KRWG News

Las Cruces – Las Cruces Public Schools is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and prosecution of the person or persons who vandalized the Conlee Elementary School building and roof on June 28 or 29 and again on July 14, 2011, said LCPS Coordinator for Safety and Security Todd Gregory.

"One or more people climbed up onto the roof of the school (located at 1701 Boston Drive) and spent a long time committing these crimes," said Gregory. He said the Las Cruces Police Department's Gang Unit is assisting LCPS with the investigation.

"LCPS battles graffiti, vandalism and theft throughout the school year and especially in the summer," said Gregory. "I conduct night-time patrols and coordinate with local police and security agencies for patrols. The school district also deploys graffiti/vandalism cameras to try and capture pictures of suspects to be given to police," he said.

Anyone with information about the vandalism/graffiti at Conlee Elementary School is urged to call the Las Cruces Police Department at 575.528.4200; or contact the school district at 575.527.6653, or email safeschools@lcps.k12.nm.us or use the LCPS Safe Schools Tip Line email at http://lcps.k12.nm.us/Departments/Safety/report/enter.asp.
