Las Cruces Police arrested a 73-year-old man suspected of using a knife to threaten his neighbor Saturday morning. Alberto Miranda, of the 1700 block of Idaho Avenue, is charged with one count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Detectives learned that Miranda, armed with a large knife, approached his neighbor’s apartment Saturday morning and threatened to harm the woman. Witnesses told police that the knife-wielding Miranda tried to gain entry into the woman’s apartment while yelling obscenities at her.
The woman was not physically injured.
Miranda was arrested Saturday afternoon and booked into the Dona Ana County Detention Center with bond set at $5,000.
