Las Cruces Police arrested a man suspected of choking his son late Wednesday afternoon.
At approximately 4:30 p.m., April 29, Las Cruces Police were dispatched to a disturbance in the 3800 block of Van Ess Court. Officers learned that the male had gone back into his home and left his children outside of the residence. The man refused to exit his home to speak to officers. The Las Cruces Police Department SWAT team was called out.
Las Cruces Police investigators learned that the man was in an argument with one child. The man grabbed his child by the neck area and was pulled off by the other child in the home. The children left the home and waited for police.
After a brief standoff with officers, the man exited the home and officers were able to detain him without incident. The man was subsequently booked into the Dona Ana County Detention Center.
