Las Cruces Police issued more than 40 citations during a two-hour traffic enforcement operation held Tuesday morning along Elks Drive.
The traffic operation was concentrated north of the Jornada Elementary School and ran from 7-9 a.m. on Tuesday, March 28.
Of the 41 citations written during the operation, 25 were issued to drivers who were traveling above the posted speed limit and five went to drivers without proper insurance.
The remaining citations were for various traffic violations such as no registration (2), stop sign violation (3), expired plates (2), driving while using a cell phone (1), no driver’s license (1), no seat belt (1) and tint violation (1).
The Las Cruces Police Department plans additional traffic enforcement operations in the near future.
