Las Cruces Police Seek Man Suspected Of Passing Counterfeit Money

  Las Cruces Crime Stoppers is offering a $1,000 reward for information that helps identify the man suspected of passing counterfeit $20 bills at several businesses in April.

Las Cruces Police learned that shortly before 11 a.m. Friday, April 18, the suspect used $20 bills to purchase food from the Burger King and Taco Bell restaurants inside the TravelCenters of America store at 202 N. Motel Blvd. The man then purchased an XM Sirius radio from the TA store, again using fake $20 bills.

That afternoon, the same man is suspected of using counterfeit $20 bills at the Target store in Las Cruces. The suspect was captured on surveillance video at the Starbucks counter inside Target.

The suspect may also have passed counterfeit bills in other denominations.

The suspect is described as white with a thin build. His hair was cut in a Mohawk-style.

Anyone with information that can help identify the suspect is asked to call Las Cruces Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or send a tip via text message to CRIMES (274637), keyword LCTIPS.
