Las Cruces Police: Suspect In Homicide Case Now In Custody

Police say a suspect is in custody in connection with a homicide at a Las Cruces home.

They say 19-year-old Taylor James "TJ" Enriquez is being held on suspicion of an open count of murder, one count of false imprisonment and one count of battery.

Police were dispatched to the home around 8 p.m. Sunday and found a man with multiple lacerations to his head and neck.

He was pronounced dead at the scene and later identified as 23-year-old Alberto Nunez-Lopez of Mesquite. New Mexico.

Police say it appears the two men got into a fight and Enriquez allegedly used a shovel to strike Nunez on the head and then a bottle to strike the victim's neck.

Enriquez is jailed without bond at the Dona Ana County Detention Center.
