Las Cruces – Las Cruces Police are investigating a Thursday evening shooting on the city's East Mesa that has claimed the life of a 22-year-old man.
At around 7:15 p.m. on Thursday, March 10, police were called to a report of shots fired just outside a convenience store at 5701 Jornada Rd. Officers arrived and found the victim on the ground with at least one gunshot wound. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
Shortly after the shooting a 26-year-old man, believed to be the suspect, called police and voluntarily turned himself in to authorities. The man is being questioned by LCPD detectives.
The investigation is still ongoing and no charges have been filed at this time.
