Commentary: Las Cruces, NM – Local members of the National Iranian American Council (NIAC) attended today’s public meeting with gubernatorial candidate Rep. Michelle Lujan Grisham at Milagro Coffee in order to express their gratitude for her opposition to President Trump’s Executive Order banning travel from six Muslim-majority countries, including Iran. Rep. Lujan Grisham is a co-sponsor of H.R.1503, which would rescind the ban.
“Unlike Steve Pearce, Rep. Lujan Grisham opposes the discriminatory Muslim ban,” said Ali Scotten, who heads NIAC’s New Mexico chapter. “We are confident that, if elected governor, she will continue to stand up for the rights of all New Mexicans.”
