Major Texas Planned Parenthood Campaign

The political arm of Planned Parenthood expects to spend $3 million on an aggressive campaign to support Texas Democrats in the 2014 general election.

The move has raised concerns from anti-abortion groups, who may not be able to match that sort of spending in a fight to attract women voters.

President of Planned Parenthood Votes Cecile Richards says the campaign will draw differences between gubernatorial candidates Democrat Wendy Davis and Republican Greg Abbott.

Davis became a national figure for Democrats in her 2013 filibuster against an abortion restrictions bill that eventually passed.

The push by Planned Parenthood in Texas will be similar to its efforts in other states. The group spent nearly $2.5 million in the 2013 Virginia governor's race.
