Man Charged In Las Cruces Stabbing

Las Cruces Police arrested the suspect believed to be responsible for stabbing another man this past weekend during a fight outside an area night club.

Andres Baca-Linares, 29, is charged with one count each of aggravated battery causing great bodily harm and tampering with evidence.

The victim, a 25-year-old man from Las Cruces, was transported to University Medical Center of El Paso with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Shortly after midnight on Sunday, Nov. 18, Las Cruces Police were dispatched to Q-Time, at 1201 E. Amador Ave., where the victim was suffering from multiple stab wounds to his chest, abdomen and back. The victim was treated at the scene and then airlifted to El Paso for advanced medical care.

Detectives learned that the victim and Baca-Linares got into an argument inside Q-Time and were both asked by bar security to leave the premises. As the two men left the bar they starting fighting one another until security intervened and separated them.

A few moments later the victim realized he had been stabbed during the altercation with Baca-Linares.

A warrant was issued for the arrest of Baca-Linares who was located Monday at the Econo Lodge Hotel on south Valley Drive. Baca-Linares was arrested by officers with the Las Cruces Police Department’s Gang Unit.

Baca-Linares was booked into the Dona Ana County Detention Center with a cash-only bond set at $50,000.
