Many American Children Still Stuck In Pockets Of Poverty

In the United States, the economy has shown impressive signs of growth in some areas, but remains stubbornly resistant in others. A new report from the Annie E. Casey Foundation says one group is still lagging well behind the rest of the population: children.

The report highlights several troubling trends that suggest low-income children are increasingly being isolated in areas of concentrated poverty, where neither they nor their parents have opportunities for good education or employment. The foundation’s president and CEO Patrick McCarthy discusses the findings with Here & Now’s Peter O’Dowd.
