Martinez Appoints Jeanne Hetzel Quintero to the Dona Ana County Magistrate Court

  Santa Fe, NM – Today, Governor Susana Martinez announced the appointment of Jeanne Hetzel Quintero of Las Cruces to the Dona Ana County Magistrate Court. The appointment fills the vacancy created by the resignation of Judge Conrad Perea.

Quintero brings more than 35 years of public- and private-sector experience to the bench. Highlights of Quintero’s distinguished career include serving as chief psychologist for the United States Department of Justice from 1983 to 1989 and from 1990 to 1996, serving as senior trial attorney for the New Mexico Public Defender’s Office from 2001 to 2003, and serving as deputy district attorney for the Third Judicial District Attorney’s Office from 2003 to 2012. Since 2013, she has served as superintendent of the J. Paul Taylor Center in Las Cruces. Quintero received her bachelor’s, master’s and doctorate degrees in psychology from the University of Illinois in Chicago. She received her juris doctorate from the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque.
