SANTA FE, N.M. (AP) — New Mexico Gov. Susana Martinez has traveled to Colorado to meet with other Republican governors and then will raise money later in the week for a gubernatorial candidate in Washington state.
Martinez political adviser Jay McCleskey said the governor left New Mexico on Tuesday for Aspen to attend the quarterly meeting of the Republican Governors Association.
The governor heads to Washington state on Friday for a fundraiser in Yakima for GOP gubernatorial candidate Rob McKenna.
McCleskey said the governor's association will pay Martinez's expenses for the Colorado event and the association will split travel costs with McKenna's campaign for the fundraiser.
Martinez plans to return to New Mexico on Saturday. She took office last year and is the nation's first female Hispanic governor.
