Munson Senior Center Should Reopen Next Week

By KRWG News

Las Cruces – Repair work and modifications to the Munson Senior Center heating system are nearly complete and the center is scheduled to reopen on or about Tuesday, February 16th.

The center was closed January 25th after a carbon monoxide leak associated with the heating system boiler was discovered.

"Once repairs and modifications conclude, final inspections and a thorough cleaning of the facility will follow. When all that is done, the center will reopen," said Senior Programs Administrator Shelley Modell.

In the interim, activities and meals for senior citizens will continue to be provided at the City's three other senior sites: Mesilla Park Community Center, 304 West Bell Ave.; Benavidez Community Center, 1045 W. McClure and Eastside Community Center, 310 N. Tornillo.

For general information about senior programs call 575/528-3000 or 575/528-3012 to make meal reservations.

The public will be notified of the center's reopening.
