New Mexico State Police are disclosing new details in last week's fatal shooting of a man by Ruidoso police.
A State Police report indicates that 27-year-old Timothy Jones was wielding a sword when officers responded to a home for an alleged domestic disturbance.
The report on the May 17 incident says Jones' 56-year-old mother, Elizabeth, called 911 and told a dispatcher that her son "wanted to kill her."
According to investigators, Jones aggressively charged toward officers with the sword.
Police say they shot him after he refused requests to drop the sword.
Jones died at the scene.
The officers involved are on standard administrative leave.
The incident is still under investigation.
Jones pleaded no contest to negligent use of a firearm last year and completed probation.
