Las Cruces, NM – Landowners in New Mexico may have more protection from oil and gas companies who wish to drill on their land if a new piece of legislation gets passed. As KRWG's Charles Winiecki reports, the Surface Owners' Protection Act would require notification of drilling on private land and compensate land owners if there is damage to their land during the drilling process.
