New Mexico State Parks to Waive Day-Use Fees on Black Friday

Santa Fe, NM – New Mexico State Parks is proudly joining other states by waiving fees on Black Friday in support of retailer REI and a growing number of other organizations who are encouraging people to spend more time outdoors.  New Mexico State Parks will be waiving the $5 day-use fees for all 35 state parks on Friday, November 25, 2016.

“Naturally, we want everyone to visit our State Parks every day,” said State Parks Director Christy Tafoya.  “On November 25th, we’re encouraging visitors to extend the family gathering beyond the Thanksgiving holiday table, get outdoors on Black Friday and visit a New Mexico State Park for free.”

Traditionally known as “Black Friday” in the retail world, the day after Thanksgiving can also be a time where families and friends unwind, relax and experience a great adventure at a New Mexico State Park close to home.  For example, join a Stuffing Strut hike at Cerrillos Hills State Park near Santa Fe for free!

REI’s efforts in #OptOutside is encouraging employees and people to go outside and enjoy the fresh air, warm sun and get some physical exercise the day after Thanksgiving.  Visitors are also encouraged to use #NMTrueParkFriday to share pictures of their adventures in New Mexico State Parks.
