NM 90/Hudson Street Bridge Begins Demolition

Silver City: The New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) District One office along with Interstate Highway Construction (IHC) has begun work along NM 90/Hudson Street and US 180/Truck Bypass Road.

The NMDOT has held public meetings informing local residents and businesses of the next phase of the project which will consist of removing the existing bridge and construction of a new bridge to also include roadway improvements, installation of a new metal barrier, sidewalks, bike lanes and lighting within the project area. The new bridge will be wider than the existing bridge and is scheduled to be complete by January 2016.

The NMDOT has extended the date to remove of the bridge on NM 90 until May 4th due to a high volume of traffic and visitors expected for the Tour of the Gila, which will be held April 29 until May 2, 2015.

The NMDOT and IHC will continue to hold Public Involvement meetings in order to review progress schedules and to discuss any concerns or issues related to the project.

Roadway notifications will be posted on the department’s web page www.nmroads.com which can also be retrieved by calling 511.
