NM Governor Looks To Fill PRC Vacancy

By KRWG News

New Mexico – SANTA FE, N.M. (KRWG) Gov. Susana Martinez is asking for cover letters and resumes from anyone interested in filling the position left vacant by the resignation of embattled Public Regulation Commissioner Jerome Block Jr.

Block Jr. is resigning as part of a plea agreement reached Wednesday with the attorney general's office over the misuse of taxpayer money and election law violations.

Block was elected in 2008 to represent PRC District 3, which includes Santa Fe and much of north-central and northeastern New Mexico. The job pays $90,000 a year.

The governor's office says it will accept letters and resumes through next Wednesday. Applicants must reside within the district to be considered.

The governor will interview finalists, and the public will have an opportunity to view the resumes of those who apply for the position.
