NM governor To Push Ahead With Teacher Evaluations

By KRWG News

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Martinez says she will issue an executive order in the coming weeks that will create a task force for developing and adopting a statewide framework for teacher evaluations.

The task force will be made up of experts and other stakeholders.

As part of the group's charge, members will also make recommendations on a compensation system to reward successful teachers.

The Legislature failed to pass a measure last month that would have set up an evaluation system. It was part of Martinez's agenda for improving New Mexico's public schools.

Martinez was in Albuquerque on Friday to help honor a group of outstanding teachers.
