SANTA FE, N.M. – The state Department of Health announced Wednesday it was licensing additional nonprofits for the medical cannabis program.
The department will give patients contact information for the new producers in about eight weeks.
The nonprofits estimate it will be three to six months before medical cannabis is ready for patients.
Producers are allowed to have 95 mature plants and seedlings and an inventory of medical cannabis for patients.
New producers are in San Juan, Sierra, San Miguel, Bernalillo and Santa Fe counties. Previously approved producers are in Santa Fe, Cibola, Harding, Dona Ana, Lea, Catron and Bernalillo counties.
