NM High Court Upholds Convictions In Double Homicide

The New Mexico Supreme Court has upheld a man's convictions in a double homicide in which the two victims were killed during a robbery.

The state high court on Thursday upheld Donald Ferran's convictions from Rio Arriba County for two counts of first-degree murder and one count of tampering with evidence.

Ferran was convicted of killing 28-year-old Joey Maestas and 26-year-old Sara Salazar. He allegedly lured them to a highway rest area by pretending to have gun out of gas.

The victims were robbed and killed, and their bodies were left in Maestas' car which was set on fire.

Ferran was sentenced to life in prison.
