NM Judge Apologizes For DWI Arrest

By KRWG News

Albuquerque – New Mexico Court of Appeals Judge Robert Robles apologized Thursday after he was arrested on charges of aggravated drunken driving and reckless driving, and says he's seeking professional help.

Robles says he made an error of judgment that resulted in painful consequences for those who placed their trust in him.

He's asking the citizens of the state to consider his apology as only the first indication of his remorse and acceptance of his own actions.

He also says he's committed to doing his best to restore the public's confidence.

Robles is on unpaid leave.

According to a criminal complaint filed in court, an Albuquerque police officer pulled over Robles early Wednesday after having to swerve onto a sidewalk to avoid Robles' car as it sped through a red light.
