NM Lawmakers To Discuss Gas Shortage

By KRWG News

New Mexico – A panel of New Mexico lawmakers is set to hear from state regulators and the New Mexico Gas Co. about efforts to restore natural gas service to thousands of New Mexicans.

The Public Regulation Commission and utility officials are scheduled to make presentations to the House Energy and Natural Resources Committee during the panel's meeting Monday at the State Capitol.

An army of utility workers and licensed contractors has been working for the past few days to restore natural gas service to some 32,000 customers after record cold temperatures caused a shortage in supplies in New Mexico and elsewhere.

Service has been restored to parts of southern New Mexico and much of Bernalillo, Placitas and Questa, but there's still much work to be done in Taos and the Espanola area.
