Three women are in custody after leading police on a chase that ended with a body being found in the trunk of their car.
State Police Sgt. Emmanuel Gutierrez says officers tried to pull over the car Friday along Interstate 25 near Los Lunas, south of Albuquerque. The driver sped away.
The car exited the interstate at Belen and traveled through several neighborhoods before crashing into other vehicles at a main intersection. Police converged on the car with guns drawn.
The women were taken into custody and officers found the body when they did a security sweep of the car.
Gutierrez said Saturday that the investigation continues. He could not say what charges the women might face, and he had no information about the person who was found dead in the trunk.
