New Mexico's population growth has been slowing in recent years compared with before the Great Recession.
The Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City reports that the state's average population increase since mid-2007 was .9 percent.
That compares with 1.8 percent in the 1990s and 1.3 percent from 2000 to 2007.
The Albuquerque Journal reports that population growth slowed in Dona Ana, Sandoval and Santa counties while most rural counties continued to lose residents.
