KRWG News – SANTA FE, N.M. (KRWG) New Mexico Recycling Coalition has awarded nearly $462,000 geared toward creating rural recycling collection points across the state.
The seven recipients include Cibola, Otero and San Miguel counties and the communities of Cimarron, Deming, Maxwell and Springer.
They will receive funding for recycling projects such as collection trailers or roll-off containers, and technical assistance from the recycling coalition.
The recipients agreed to provide long-term operational and financial commitment to ensure the projects can be sustained.
New Mexico Recycling Coalition executive director English Bird says recycling should be available to all New Mexico residents whether they live in urban or rural areas.
The nonprofit group's overall project will launch a statewide recycled materials marketing cooperative, place recycling equipment and educate targeted communities.
