Help us raise the funds to complete “Yochi,” a 25-min narrative film written and directed by award-winning filmmaker and NMSU professor Ilana Lapid, executive produced by Craig Holden, Associate Director at the NMSU Foundation, and produced by Kristi Drexler and Daniel Velazquez. “Yochi” is a US-Belizean co-production made with a crew that includes several CMI students and grads. For more about our film and our team, visit: www.yochifilm.com.
“Yochi” is the story of a 9-year-old selectively mute Mayan boy who guards a nest of endangered Yellow-Headed Parrots in Belize’s pine savannah. When his beloved older brother, Itza, returns from the city, Yochi learns that he’s in debt and has turned to poaching – setting the brothers on a collision course. “Yochi” is about trust, loyalty and the struggle to protect that which you love most. We hope that the film will educate and encourage dialogue about the pressing global problems of poaching and the illegal wildlife trade.
We are currently raising funds to pay for professional sound-design, an original film score, the final audio mix, color grading, among other post-production expenses. Your support will enable us to complete the film in time for submission to major film festivals in the fall. We thank you in advance for your support!
DINNER & SCREENING: $60
